بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah Nisa Listen Online

 

Surah Nisa was revealed to the Holy Prophet in Madinah. There are 176 verses of this surah out of which 24 are Ruku.

Arabic word "woman" meaning. This revelation was called "Nisa" because it was revealed primarily to discuss the laws concerning women in Islam. It contained details on inheritance, marriage and women's rights in Islam. The main purpose of Surah An-Nisa 'was to ensure that the laws and rules of women were equal to those of men.

After the emigration of the followers of Islam to Madinah, the Muslims formed a community and for this they needed rules and regulations. Therefore, the main idea of   Surah An-Nisa revolves around the guidance of Muslims on how to live in the society, how to strengthen the society and how to lead a family life.

The status of women in Islam is discussed in Surah An-Nisa 'and laws have been formulated by God to ensure that the rights of Muslim women are best protected. Surah An-Nisa 'benefits Muslims in many ways. It is the perfect guide of every social law, as Muslims we have to fulfill it.

The purpose of this Madani Surah is to protect the newly formed Muslim community by outlining acceptable behavior for Muslims. It highlights the role of the Qur'an as an authoritative legal source and its ability to build community. The purpose of this surah is to eradicate the earlier practices of the infidel, Arab communities which are no longer considered moral in Muslim society. For example, part of this surah (4: 2-4) about the fair treatment of orphan girls describes the pre-Islamic Arabic custom of marrying orphan girls to take their property.

Surah Nisa is the fourth surah of the Holy Quran. It was revealed in Medina and has a total of 176 verses. The title of this surah refers to women and there are numerous references to women in this surah. The concept of this surah is to call for mercy, justice and weakness in the society. Surah An-Nisa 'teaches us that men should be fair and compassionate in their dealings with women. Surah An-Nisa 'deals with the basic rights of the weaker sections of society such as women, orphans, slaves, servants and heirs.
