Surah Taubah Listen Online

This Surah is also called Al-Barah. Surah Tawbah consists of 129 verses and is one of the last Surahs to be revealed in Madinah. This is the only surah of the Qur'an which does not begin with Bismillah. This Surah was revealed at the time of Ghazwa Tabuk. Surah Taubah is recited to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty.

Surah Tawbah (Arabic: ٱلتوبة ، التوبة; meaning: توبہ), which is also called bara (Arabic: براءة, براء; meaning: denial), is the ninth chapter (surah) of the Qur'an. It has 129 verses and it is one of the last surahs of Madinah.

This Surah was revealed in 9 AH during the battle of Tabuk in Medina. Sana's manuscript preserves some verses on parchment radiocarbon between 578/44 AH and 669/49 AH.

This is the only surah of the Quran which does not start with Bismillah, the usual initial formula, in the name of Allah, who is the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. It deals with almost the same topics that are mentioned in Surat al-Anfal. Unlike all other Surahs, Muhammad did not command that this formula be placed at the beginning of this Surah.
