Maryam Tanveer Ali known by her stage name Maya Ali is a Pakistani actress. She made her debut with a brief role in the telenovela Door-Shahwar and later gained acclaim for portraying the titular characters in both A New Cinderella and Aun Zara (2012). Ali found success playing the role of Munahil Javed in Hum TV's romantic drama Mann Mayal. In 2018, she started her film career with Teefa in Trouble.

Maya Ali received critical acclaim for her role as Zalekha in the romantic drama Mera Naam Yousuf Hai and Farah Wali Khan's family drama Diyar Dil Aaab (2015), which earned her the Lux Style Award for Best Television Actress. Maya Ali was born Maryam Tanveer Ali on 27 July 1989 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan to Muslim parents. Her father, Tanveer Ali, was a businessman, and her mother, Shaughta Nazar, is a housewife. She has a younger brother Afnan. Maya Ali completed her Master's degree in Mass Communication from Queen Mary College. Ali started her career at a young age, working as a video jockey for Samaa TV, Waqt News and Dunya News channels. According to Ali, her father was against her working in the entertainment industry and did not speak to her for six years, but reconciled with her before her death in 2016.

In 2012, she made a good debut with a brief role in the drama Doori Shahr on Hum TV. In this play, her name is Mahnoor. The same year, she played Farah Wali Khan, an estranged granddaughter, in the blockbuster family drama Diyar-e-Dil alongside Usman Khalid Butt, Abid Ali, Sanam Saeed, Mikal Zulfiqar, Hareem Farooq and Ali Rehman Khan. The series was based on Farhat Ishtiaq's novel of the same name, and was shot in Nawam Mahal, Gilgit-Baltistan. For her performance in the series, she won the Hum Award for Best Actress Popular and her first Lux Style Award for Best Actress nomination.

Later that year, Ali appeared as Sonia in the historical drama Jo Bichar Gaye, based on the true events of the 1971 Indo-Pak war including the fall of Dhaka, in her fourth collaboration with Hussam Hussain. The serial was critically acclaimed but a ratings flop.
